Doggie
well, as i made my own pc, i wanted to make a guide or topic about it.. maybe useless but maybe handy. This is a guide for people that want to build a pc.Note: Has no guide to putting together.. just notes on stuffSetting a spend limitAs many of you know, as much as you want to get the best for a pc you want to make, cost can be staggering.Set a limit on what your willing to spend and afford. This is including the software you may need for eg* Operating systemWhat parts do i need?Well for a standard pc, you will need to buy the following;Note: the cost are in australian dollars and are an average price for standard partsCase - $150Motherboard - $150Memory - $75 for 256mb(not DDR)Hard Disk Drive - $125 - 20gbCD-Rom - $50 - 52xFloppy Drive - $10-25CPU Processor - $110 - 1.1ghz CeleronSound and Video Card - $75 eachLPT/COM/USB Ports - $50 - 100 for allMonitor - $150 - 15' inchModem - $50 - 56kb internalThese now are classed as the standard pc these days and is quite cheaper. The important thing is to shop around for the best price. Don't just go to one operator and buy everything there. Sometimes it pays to shop around for a bargain or too. Also make sure these parts are covered with a money back guarrente as sometimes there can be faulty hardware.Should i put it together? If you know how-to put a computer together, by all means do it. But if you feel uncomfortable or have no idea, look for a pc specialist that can put it together. Make sure the guy you employ does know what he is doing and that you have his details because theres been cases of dodgy workers.. if so contact consumer affairs and report him and make sure he won't be doing any more business it may cost a little as $50 - $150. Depends on how many components and difficulty of installing hardware and even software.Hopefully this may help you in some way.All questions and comments are welcome
