Some recent events surrounding OCZ have risen which have alarmed myself. But first, let’s discuss a little background of OCZ: OCZ is a company with a blemished past with all sorts of bad conduct in the business area. Bad memory modules, bounced checks, and a slew of other horror stories, have all emanated from this company at one time or another. However, I was fooled when I heard of “The new OCZ”; which supposedly, the new CEO would improve the company, and their standings within the industry. Unfortunately, that isn’t exactly the truth, per se.

John Apps, owner of Ramstore.ca and The15thInternet.com , sells and distributes OCZ memory modules. But sadly, there is more to this than a guy named John Apps and his two sites. Mr. Apps is also the number one Canadian distributor of OCZ products, as he too is a huge part of OCZ.

For those unfamiliar, Mr. Apps also offers free hosting to hardware sites if they are willing to do so for exchange of advertisement on their sites. While this sounded like a great idea, and I did accept the offer, time soon shined a darker light on Ramstore.ca . I had requested an OCZ PC3500 module for review, and he agreed and sent it along. I found the memory module to be very satisfying in the results, which can be found here. But apparently, Mr. Apps became a little too comfortable with me, and as time went on, I noticed peculiar situations that more or less—made me feel uncomfortable. Below is a conversation that has left me with the decision to not buy, or deal, with this company any further:

john@ramstore.ca: if we sent you corsair ram would you say OCZ kicks its a**?

Paradox: if ocz did kick its a**

Paradox: lol

john@ramstore.ca: it should but just exagerate it, and we will send you some new OCZ and some corsair

Paradox: ok?

Paradox: I will post just reviews

Paradox: dont get me wrong

john@ramstore.ca: no no you have to lie

Paradox: if the OCZ beats the corsair

john@ramstore.ca: we only like reviewers who lie

Paradox: LOL!

john@ramstore.ca: Corsair is paying people off and its p***ing me off

Paradox: :-\

Paradox: I aint gonna be bought out either bro

john@ramstore.ca: Know anyone that wants to be bought out?

Unfortunately this sounds like typical ‘corporate’ dealings that we’re all very familiar with. I on the other hand, wanted no part of this. Sadly, I have already reviewed and published two OCZ memory modules on my site. The memory modules did perform to my expectations, but I can not, however, suggest these products to future readers/customers. Nexus Hardware is not about to throw in the towel and give-in to such corporate thugs--we’re not about to sell out our readership. In all, it has come down to us, Nexus Hardware, to cut all ties and dealings with OCZ products, and the company. We do apologize for any misleading information about these products, but in our reviews we did post honest, thorough information as we always have, and will continue. For the record; Nexus Hardware is no longer affiliated with anyone or anything related to OCZ.
