Restore from DOS - rstrui.exe Restore probelm Rate Topic: -----

I had a problem that said \windows\system32\config\system ...was corrupt - is it possible to run the restore (rstrui.exe) from the DOS prompt or does anyone know how I can get to the COMMAND line ...thanks in advance

System restore cannot be run from the command line.. (the program can be started from there but not actually ran from there with switches)

Otherwise, run a repair installation.. this should fix your problem

you should use RECOVERY CONSOLE to repair your system

This usually happens when xp crashes do to overclocking, etc. I've fixed many pc with this exact same problem by using the recovery console and running chkdsk c: /p /r or using hiren's boot cd 7.0 and running chkdsk c: /f /r
