Hello, I'm quite new to C++, but I've had extensive experience with VB. I've been asked to write a program that automates the gathering of information within a financial institution. As I was looking for C++ packages, I noticed a marked difference in price between the Standard and Pro versions. However, I don't see a great deal of variance with regard to features.

As a first timer which should I get to be able to develop fully functioning programs?

Thanks.............RO

Versions of what? C++ is just a language, there are no versions of it. For compilers, MinGW and Textpad (for IDE) are nice.
