i've run xpcreate numerous times so far but am getting three different error messges, each during different executions of the program.
sharing violation
all finished push enter - screen closes and nothing happens
cd not created
also is there a place where people could get a list of the error message numbers and see what the error is?
thanks!

can you post your xpcreate.ini file here?
I think the solution for these two: is in there:
EXITQUIET=YES
DOCD=NO
Sharing violation can be the result of virusscanner and/or the missing line STARTSWITCH=/WAIT /MIN in xpcreate.ini

Does it give you the error when you manually start the SP?
if so it's probably corrupted. try re-downloading (disable all downloadmanagers)

Also, you could try copying *all* the files from your original XP cd to a place on your hard drive i.e.
C:\sources\XPCD
and then manually slipstream Service Pack 2 into that source using the command in a command prompt:
<name of the sp2 file.exe> /integrate:C:\sources\xpcd
[Edited with corrections - thanks peter
]
Then you can modify the XPCREATE.ini file to tell XPCREATE to use the source as C:\sources\XPCD instead of a cd.
This also means xpcreate doesnt have to intergrate the service pack which should speed things up a bit for you

Correction of it_ybd's spelling (please don't be offended).
