I have what i am not certain is a game issue or a driver issue so i will try do discribe what is hapening to me in a On-line game.
I currently have a Nvidia fx 5200 with 128mb of ram a 1.1 g athalon and 768 mb of ram, xp pro. i have run dx diagnostics and passed all tests fine, what is happening is that if i use any nvidia driver post 61.77 i lose the ability to see text chat and and the game formula text is missing as well I did clean installs of every driver post 61.77 and i lose the text if i re-install the 66.71 driver im fine, I have tried every trick i know to see if i can islolate why this happens with newer and supposedly more stable drivers. What else should I try

I also have the same card, and for a long time now I have had my own troubles with the newer drivers, my problems being contrast issues in video playback (videos would appear way too bright), or issues with HL1 based games playing at very poor framerates.

My solution to this was to revert back to an older driver and stick with it, although ironically enough I use the 61.77 driver and I am fine

My advice would be to stick to the driver which works, in your case, the 66.71, Nvidia usually pay less attention to older model cards anyway when it comes to new drivers. They focus their time on getting their newer stuff working, I imagine new drivers now (I haven't updated mine in a while) will simply be getting the best out of the 7*** series cards while continuing to get the 6*** series as stable as possible.

Sorry but I think us 5200's are long gone now <_<

Omega drivers are definitely worth looking into, but again, stick with the one based on the official version that works for you.

Omega drivers are exactly the same in the officials, the only difference being they come pre-tweaked to allow you to change settings normally restricted by the officials, or that they can be downloaded and installed to affect speed or quality of your visuals more.

Since these are still based on official drivers (unsupported by Nvidia of course), any issues that carry over from those will still be present in the Omegas as I've found out with my issue explained above.

By all means though, Omega drivers can be useful :)
