I am using a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop PC which had windows XP loaded on it when I purchased it. Within the last several weeks I started receiving an error message when I try to shut down the PC. It says that #gen_windows# indexing status is not responding. I can 'end now' or 'cancel'; both options shut the PC down. I tried contacting Dell since they loaded the software but the person I spoke with wanted me to reload windows XP plus everything else I had added to the PC. Does anyone know of a quicker, less obtrusive' fix?

Thanks,
Kybersmom
