I just stumbled across some NTFS drivers for DOS and 98SE...

http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Ntfs...ofessional.html

http://www.sysintern...sWindows98.html

http://www.datapol.d...ware/index.html

Does anyone know if they are subject to the 137GB drive size limit?

I assume you would still need hardware that supports LBA48, either natively in the BIOS or via an add-in drive controller card.

I bought a $12 PCI SATA/PATA RAID controller card, after exhausting all other options. Best thing I ever did. Not only do my large drives work just fine under Windows 98, my system has added features of RAID, and SATA. Although, I have no plans for either. I just needed my plain PATA drives to work under Win98.

One thing worth mentioning, I had loads of trouble getting Windows 2000 to recognize and then work properly with the controller card. That's NT for ya. Windows 98 on the other hand had no difficulties. The card manual actually has a special section for Win2000/XP OS. Very LONG section. Installation instructions for 98 were simple: 1. insert the PCI card into empty slot, 2. connect drives to the new controller, 3. install drivers upon boot up. :thumbup

Tried sysinternals NTFS for Win98 several days ago. Gives BSOD on bootup and Win98 won't load. Luckily I have a dual-boot system and could boot into XP to modify and remove the files. If you could get it working, I doubt it has any effect whatsoever on the 137gb limit. Simply loads some NTFS files to allow 98 to "see" NTFS formatted partitions (read only).

tried ntfs for 98 too but my experience was fine.
i was able to read/write ntfs volumes from windows, problem was that system slowed down while doing it. there were BSODs too when moving files larger than 1gb or so.

btw, i can't tell you if they'll work with HDs bigger than 137gb, mine was 120gb :P
