Hamins Posted November 13, 2005 Share Posted November 13, 2005 I think (and I may be wrong) this happens because of the different ways HDD manufacturers, and Windows count disk space. HDD manufacturers count 1GB as 1000MB, whereas Windows counts 1GB as 1024MB. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Cos 1GB is 1024MB and 1MB is 1024KB and so on.But the HDD manufactureres are cheating so 1GB is 1000MB and so ppl think the HDD is bigger. It's the same with CRT MONITORS. A 17" monitor has only about 15.7" viewable surface. So a 17" CRT monitor and 15"LCD monitor are almost the same in viewable surface. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
