MDGx
Delete all files with these extensions from %windir% and %windir%\SYSTEM [%windir% = usually C:\WINDOWS]:*.avi*.bmp*.gif*.vbs*.wmf*.txt | = no more documents/readmes*.doc |*.hlp |*.cnt |*.chm | = be careful here, this way all help files will be gone*.htz |*.htm |*.tmp = may also be found in C:\ rootMore info:http://www.mdgx.com/newtip5.htm#TEMPFILESHope this helps. LLXX
Also, you can refer here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=59856 for an absolute minimum files required for the OS to still work.
Atyafi
Download 98lite.Create two partitions on your hard disk. 120-150 Mb approx. for 98lite and W98SE install files. Use option *clean install* without IE. Create INF files in 98lite setup folder[Version]Signature="$CHICAGO$"and name them mstask.inf mdacinst.inf wbem.inf...to get rid of files (and features) installed by them.Delete install files from setup partition and use that space for swap-file and/or your files. >MTCH<
Does not anybody have a copy of such installed windows? I don't have install CD Win98 neither Win95, so it would be perfect if I could just download it and copy to the formatted HDD and run it without any installation. Atyafi
Would it be perfect? You may run into troubles with hw detection. Is there an installed version of W98 which fits to every hw configuration?
