hmm I voted for FLAC because thats what I've been using for a while. But I will check out Wavpack. Im not sure i like the idea of lossy/hybrid compression though. Either way it seems these two are the only good choices ;)

WavPack, it has no cons and with the last encoder it finally has working ReplayGain!, sweet. Time to reencode all those monkeys.

If they are all "lossless", then surely, by definition, it doesn't matter which one you use?

from my research i gather that
FLAC encodes and decodes faster than WavPack.
The Lowest And Highest Encode setting in FLAC makes little difference.
WavPack achieves slightly better compression than FLAC.
WavPack also has a few more features and better support.

Would others agree or disagree?

ARJ for DOS, and the latest WinRAR pack files; now what would you choose? OK, maybe I exagerated, but some features make great difference to a user.

There are a lot of difference's. File size, encoding decoding time and software support.

FLAC, I guess. I have a friend who is as picky about audio as I am about video. Too bad I don't have a working FireWire port on my DVC or the patience to script with AviSynth... oh well...
