I have 2 harddisks IBM Deskstar and Maxtor (slave)
and i can't see slave disk in win xp. On boot i can see that bios found another disk but in win xp - nothing.

Weird problem dude, have you tried swapping the master and slave around ?? Just see if it detects ur IBM as a slave !!

It certainly does sound an odd problem, when one of my Maxtor drives died about two months ago, it was still shown up in the BIOS, but it never showed up in Windows ... just took time for it to eventually die and not be shown in the BIOS.

I guess other factors to consider could be a certain IDE controller dying, your software IDE drivers (Via, Intel?), or possibly incorrect settings. I think anyone would really need more details to tell :cry
