Custom bootscreen won't load with the right colours

Hi!

I've copied ntoskrnl.exe from C:\Windows\System32 and modified it with my personal bitmap (4bit, 16 custom colour palette) by using Resource Hacker. I obtained my new file, called it NTCUSTOM.EXE and put it back in C:\Windows\System32.

Now went through the guide and modded the boot.ini as follows:

[boot loader]
timeout=6
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="WinXP'" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="WinXP custom boot" /fastdetect /kernel=NTCUSTOM.EXE

When i start the system and choose the custom boot option it regularly loads the custom bootscreen but mess completelly the colours I've chosen. It still probably uses the palette from the blach boot screen. Instead of those 16 colours I've chosen others (according to the image i wanted to display).

How comes I can't see my custom bootscreen with it's custom palette? How would I modify Windows XP's bootscreen palette in order to make my image to display correctelly?

Thanks :)
