it goes in X:WINDOWSRESOURCESTHEMES

e.g.

X:WINDOWSRESOURCESTHEMESRHODIUM EDGERhodium Edge.msstyles

double click on the msstyles file to put it in the Appearances menu in Desktop Properties.

Aaron...don't you have to use M$Styles or ThemesXP in order to put on third party themes? I am still so darn confused about this myself.

Rick:eek:

There are 2 ways to use themes out there.

One way is using a program called Windows Blinds, which is basically another program like MS plus.

Then there is StylesXP which modifies xp so you it accept themes made by non MS.

MS didn't want to let anyone else use thier THEME concept, thus poeple have to figure out a way around it ... and stylexp is the answer ;-)

01. Download Stylexp from h**p://www.tgtsoft.com/download.html
02. Install Stylexp. (System boots)
03. You have a new theme called toothpaste
04. Check one of the following sites for themes:
04a. h**p://www.boomgames.com/xpthemes/browse.php?type=theme
04b. h**p://www.themexp.org/
05. Choose a theme / download it/ unzip files
06. Make sure files are in (X:WINDOWSRESOURCESTHEMES) as Aaron said
07.
a. Some authors create a .theme so you can easily find it from the
(right click desktop:::>properties::>themes:::> and select the theme from the drop down menu
b. other authors just provide .mssstyles (Thus all you do in that case is to double click on it

Please note:
a. Some themes comes with wallpapers, others don't. It really depends on the author
b. check h**p://xp.modrica.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=799
It mentions that some of the themes that were made for Plus are compatible within xp (I haven't tested them, but Xperties did, and I'm pretty sure he's righ ;-) )

REPLACE ** with tt

Thanks a million.....last question about themes. These are the files/folders in my Themes folder:

Jezz Professional (folder)
Luna (folder)
StyleXP (folder)
TGTSoft(folder)
Luna
lunabluebutton
StyleXP
vssver.scc
Windows Classic

Which can I get rid of and which do I need to keep?

You do not need to in stall Style XP. All you need to do is make sure you have patched your uxtheme, Here is a link fo thr patch. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enh...tiPatcher.shtml

Then make sure that the Theme file and folder that contains the msstyles/shell folders are in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes

Here are some themes if you want:
