HFSLIP - Test releases

With UPHClean and MDAC_TYP in HF, at first logon, I get a cmd window and another one which looks like msiexec /? (but that could be bad syntax, maybe because of missing mdac_typ.msi)

Note I don't have MsiCabExtract in TOOLS.

edit : you're killing me, it's possible to stand WMP, but not the bliss wallpaper. :lol:

I solved my problem with KB833987 and KB914798. I just had to create a REG_SZ key named "Type" and which value is "Update".

On this page, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS06-005.mspx you can read that the updated file for "WMP for XP SP1" (i.e. WMP 8) is wmpui.dll but with more recent versions of WMP, the file is called wmp.dll. It's just a supposition.

edit: what WU (or rather microsoft update) says, probably not so important.

@Camarade_Tux

The MDAC_TYP.msi problem was solved in 60423c.

Would you mind giving me the REG fixes you included?

The XPSP1 912812 fix, is that also for 2000 sp4 with IE6?
I'm only doing it for XPSP1.

Are you talking about the black DOS boxes? :)

I added this, by hand, after installation.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB833987]
"Type"="Update"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB914798]
"Type"="Update"

...testing new release.

No, I removed many things with nLite and I didn't that time, and it was a shock to see all those components back. Nevermind. :P

btw, I'm a command-line warrior : everything with CLI even when it should be done in another way. ;)

Using last version, I still have the same "missing" updates with MBSA and HFNetChk. Especially, it complains about MDAC 2.7. A file named MDAC_TYP.pf exists in the Prefetch folder so MDAC_TYP.exe has been launched but I can't say anything else.

edit: remember I'm using SP1a.

@Camarade_Tux:

When you include MDAC_TYP.EXE, the hotfix won't take. You need to apply it manually after setup finishes. It's the same deal as with WMP10 on XPSP1 (and on XPSP2 when it's in the HFSVCPACK_SW folder).

@murvun:

Thanks. I'll take a look at it.

Report : using latest, then using nLite, I only have one MDAC update missing. HFNetChk complains about dpnetlib.dll and the two missing reg keys I reported just before (and of course, two file versions greater than expected. :P )

Thanks a lot for all your help. :thumbup

Also, I've found that you can remove all kernel files in I386 except ntkrnlmp.exe. They are copied from driver.cab in fact (you can read they are being copied at the end of textmode just like usual).

Don't proceed as nLite does. Just delete them by hand from I386. You see : click, Del.

It spared 2.7MB in my ISO : 118MB and all updates thank to you all. :woot:*

edit: I installed windows in VMware on both 1 and 2 processors. And from the task manager (the one from host), I can say the two processors of my P4D were used at all stages of install.

//now I have to leave this sweet P4D, 300Go RAID, for my poor laptop with a half-dead hard disk. :snif:

@murvun...

Try the latest. Hope it helps...

HFNetChk complains about dpnetlib.dll and the two missing reg keys I reported just before
I included the two missing reg keys you mentioned so how come HfNetChk still isn't happy? You said that's all that's needed...
