Tom doesn't want it sent to Sourceforge (it has to be him, the copyright holder, to submit it anyway).

In fact, he doesn't want it distributed at all anymore. I'll make a more general announcement in a new topic.

Will you buy and drive a car thats not finished being made? I don't think so.
You guys here want people to pay for unfinish programs, apps etc...
and then if we don't, then you want to kill support. Lets say I donated and you killed support
for it anyway, then I would be out some money.
I don't want anything unfinished especially if I have to pay for it. If you want donations maybe you should
have a finished product. BOTTOM LINE!

Your analogy does not fit free community projects, Hu$tle. Donations are meant as a form of encouragement, and also as a measure of how useful the existing resources are to you. If you've benefited and feel that the project should live on then it behooves you to show your support. Can't donate, for whatever reason? Then find another way of showing your appreciation, such as spreading the word about the project, or even just saying a heart-felt "thank you."

If you can't say something nice about the project and its authors, or offer constructive criticism or support, then your comment is not helpful to anybody.

But you would have showed your support for the project, which is perhaps more important. You should consider the money donated as compensation for the time and effort you have saved. Is this not the point of paying for a valuable service?

The product, as you say, is the service. HFSLIP's authors were providing a free service. Bottom line that.

I totally agree with FDV on sourceforge. HFSLIP isn't meant to be repackaged with a new license and redistributed. It's against the terms and conditions.

Thank you for pointing that out, 5eraph. Let me be bold enough, and honest enough, to say that Hu$tle has not donated a single dime toward the project/service. He never thought it was good or helpful to him I guess.

I've thoroughly enjoyed HFSLIP and felt motivated enough to donate a few times. For those who donated, is there still an avenue for obtaining the last release and potentially even support?

(I'm mostly playing devil's advocate here; sorry if it causes too much trouble.)

Does anyone have a mirror/save from the hfslip.org site? I know the support is ended for it and everything, and I dont want anything else, just to look at what was on the site.

Archive.org has a bit of it, but not much: http://web.archive.o...837/hfslip.org/
Although a crafty person might be able to feed it the iframe URLs of the individual pieces.

I doubt if the maintainers would want me to distribute backups of the site, though.

It was possible. Now you'd need to PM tommyp to see about that.

Wow.

Arrived just in time to see the dust settling from all the cars leaving the parking lot.

Oh well.

RIP

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the skies
All is well, safely rest;
God is nigh.

What folder do I put these 2 files in.

MPAS-FE.EXE
WINDOWSDEFENDER.MSI

I would like to slipstream these files to my Windows 2000 Server Cd.

tomasz86 found a courious thing in HFSLIP to which I cannot say something.

I come together with him to offer his mods as HFSLIP Beta J v5 (based von HFSLIP beta J v4).

The mod belongs to W2K in the subroutine BANDAID2K (lines are new added):
IF "!VERSIONIE!"=="FDV" (
IF EXIST HFCABS\IEW2K_1.CAB (
  IF EXIST TEMP\xpsp2_binarydrop MOVE/Y TEMP\xpsp2_binarydrop\*.* TEMP >NUL
) ELSE IF EXIST HFCABS\_IE6_HFSLIP.CAB (
  IF EXIST TEMP\xpsp2_binarydrop MOVE/Y TEMP\xpsp2_binarydrop\*.* TEMP >NUL
)
)

his comments:

Quote

While editing one of the unofficial updates I found a bug in HFSLIP which prevents the installation of IE6 files from some of the updates (that use xpsp2_binarydrop files in order to install them only when IE6 is present) when FDV fileset is used at the same time. Shortly speaking, some of the W2k updates use a structure involving a folder called xpsp2_binarydrop where files intended to use only with IE6 are stored. They are installed only when IE6 is present/slipstreamed. The problem with FDV fileset is that it sets the IE version to "FDV" which prevent the files from xpsp2_binarydrop being copied even though IE6 cabs are present in HFCABS folder.<BR itxtNodeId="499">

And as for the added strings, what they basically do is that they make files from xpsp2_binarydrop folder being copied when IE6 cabs are present and FDV files are used. Without these strings, xpsp2_binarydrop files are copied only when IE6 cabs are present (therefore VERSIONIE is set to 2KIE6) and there are no FDV files. Using FDV files changes VERSIONIE to "FDV", therefore xpsp2_binarydrop are not copied. The strings I added fix this problem

Are you using *anything* in "C:\Program Files"?

Then the whatever you are using does not support spaces in paths.

Or you supplied a path with spaces in it as a parameter without enclosing it in double quotes.

This post has been moved out of the HFSLIP Forum because the version of HFSLIP you have used is an 'aftermarket' production not supported by the original developers.
You may be better off contacting Mim0, directly with questions regarding their production.
