Make this directory, place any media files here.
1:\ YOUR_HD:\XPCD\i386\$OEM$\$$\Media

2:\ Make your theme file in Windows and save it in
YOUR_HD:\XPCD\i386\$OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes\YOUR_THEME.theme
During the install this will get copy over to the correct spot.

That all you have to do to have your custom sound theme install with windows.

i have more question but this is the 1st step for my winxp cosmetics

Can't do it. You need to use $OEM$ folders. Just make a batch file, make it run on first boot and code it to delete what you dont want.

HFSLIP can do it, using the "HFEXPERT/APPREPLACEMENT" folder and/or the "FIX" folder.

The only "real" difficulty is to rename your files (WAVE, THEME, etc...) as they are on the Windows CD, in the 8.3 form. (look into txtsetup.sif for the correspondances)

Really?
Living and learning. Gotta give HFSLIP a try sometime.

My media folder uncompressed is 1.04 mb, this is small. Compressed it 694 KB this is even smaller but I do not need any scripts for this to install and do not have to edit or use any other program for this.

all i do, is get the files i want to use, use a batch script to rename them to the default XP file names, and compress them to LZX and paste them into the I386 directory.

This is awful. Don't make claims unless you're positive. I can assure you that you are 100% WRONG!

For sure it can ! :)
The two folders (FIX & APPREPLACEMENT) are used to replace any file in the i386 dir and/or the driver.cab file ;)

Owww! What the hell is your problem? Maybe you haven't read the whole Thread!
Not that I have to apologize to you (thank god), but I did say I didn't knew it was possible.

I hope that this post is not the "stupid post" you're targeting at. I had no problem with your posts, I were only giving you more detail (I believed it could have interested you)

@ Alanoll - I am calm. I just think there no need for a reply like that.

@ Delprat - No. It's not for you. You just posted a few seconds before I did. Sorry if it seemed like it.

 ok left that i have tried the HFSL what was that is not working and of no use because i have used it before this while i want to integrate my hotfixes and updates of windows but it cant work properly but i was very impressed by the addons packs created by ryanvm.net like some softwares, utilities, themes packs if anyone now how to make such type of addons packs then please teach us because this can reduce the time cost to integrate and reliable because i have tested the ryanvm's addons packs in which i have integrated some utilities, themes with the help of nlite just put downloaded cab files in nlite and it integrates in the cd of winxp, i have also tested this works very vell i have also tried msn messenger integration from his addon pack and it works very nice i m using his msnmessenger addon pack integreted messenger till now without any error but the ryan's updatepack or windows updates pack don t work fine its fail in my opinion i integrate updates and hotfixes manualy.

thanks

so please tell us if you know how to create an addon pack like ryanvm.net to integrate in xp cd.

kamran-
why's it so difficult for u?

1. set your sound scheme, save the .theme file.
2. export over your sounds & .theme file to CD, using $OEM$ folder structures.
3. finally apply the theme thru winnt.sif, to make it the default.

I have a small proposition for this problem, but I'm not sure if this will work so perhaps someone else can tell if I'm right or wrong.

Kamran wants to replace the soundfiles from the original CD with his own wave files. Someone told that this could be done with HFSLIP. I read that it is possible to replace files. (never did it, don't have the time to try everyting)

The other solution is to put the new files in the $OEM$ folder (in a sub folder) But then he has the origal files + his own files on the cd. And I think that our friend Kamran doesn't like the waste of space. But for him the HFSLIP doesn't work. So here comes my idea:

1) Look for the file you want to change:

eg Windows XP Error.wav

2) search the file in the I386 folder

I think that must be XPERROR.WA_ that you will need to search

3) Change the file name of your sound file to this

myfile.wav => XPERROR.WAV

4) then use MODIFYPE.EXE to compress the file so it will be XPERROR.WA_

5) Replace this file with the original file in the I386

I'm not sure if this will work. I used this method for the billboard so that is why I made the connection with the soundfiles. It will only take some time to change al the files (65 wave files). But I think this method must work.

If there is someone who can confirm this or just tear my method into pieces, i would be glad.

Kind regards
Jonathan.
