Hard Drive Light Stay On .......forever Rate Topic:

I have a Compaq 900mHz with a fresh 98 SE and the SP service pack. I notice that HD light never goes off. The heads are not accessing, and even in safe mode the light is steady on. It flickers normally when it is reading and writing though. Anyone have any ideas here?

I also have a Win ME hard drive, and it does not display this behavior, so I can rule out anything in the BIOS. Thanks for any help.

I know of one thing that worked for me, which is: Power Management Properties > in "Turn off Hard Disks" change the setting to "Never." Also, I don't really think this will make much of a difference but, you might wanna make sure that DMA is enabled.
