Hi All,
A small ray of hope I suppose.
I am a complete noobe with a little idea of handling risks.
I got hold of the Vista 5219 PE from the boot.wim and played with it.
The below apps works with some errors and no errors on the PE.
1. BS Explorer - works Fine
2. Total Commander - Fine
3. YZDock -- Gives error -"Will Only work on XP"
4. Talisman Shell - "Runs but with hiccups here and there"
5. Vista Wordpad (From Install.wim)- works fine.
6. Vista Explorer - flicks on and then disappears
7. Vista IE - same as above.
still a lot to do.
thanks
PS: sorry I registered just now here from office so I could not post any screenshot.
I will post once i go home this night.

I have Vista 5219. How the hell did you get it working? o_O
I tried extracting and rebuilding it. That proved to be futile.

Well force,
I am completely a noobe with just an understanding.
For such ppl we call " Jack of all master of none".
It was a bit tricky though getting it to boot.
1. Copy the boot.wim to a folder Test on C:\
2. mount it as rw mode. to a folder VimBoot(I named it so)
Ximage /mountrw C:\test\boot.wim 2 C:\VimBoot
3. Copy contents of ur talisman installation to C:\VimBoot\Talisman
4. Copy contents of ur TotalCommander installation to C:\VimBoot\tcoman
5. Copy contents of BSExplorer xip to C:\VimBoot\BSExplorer
6. Regedit and load hive "system" from C:\VimBoot\Windows\Config
edit setup key and change it from "winpeshl.exe" to X:\BSExplorer\explorer.exe
unload hive
8. for safety to avoid running setup, overwrite ur setup.exe in root folder with any executable or cmd.exe by renaming them to setup.exe
7. then run Ximage /unmount /commit C:\VimBoot
Create a same folder structure with sources and Boot in a folder VPE and put boot.wim in sources folder and boot.sdi in Boot folder.
8. create an iso using the folder VPE the bootimage microsoft.img (extract the boot image from the Vista DVD for creating the iso -- I did it but I think its optional).
9. in Boot.ini do not miss the line "nobcd" else it won't boot.
My Boot.ini for VPE5219
nobcd
ramdisk(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Honghorn Env" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT /DETECTHAL /MININT /rdpath=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)cdrom(o)\sources\boot.wim /RDSDIHDRPATH=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)cdrom(0)\boot\boot.sdi /USENEWLOADER /DB /INRAM
now run VPC and load the created iso .

sorry force forgot something..
Add as much system32 dll files as u can into the VimBoot\Windows\System32 from install.wim.
This was done in order to get Explorer working as it was giving shdocvw.dll error. But nogo still it flicks and off(both IE and Explorer).

I downloaded Ximage for 5270 from a russian site.
On My WindowsXP, I first install the wimfltr.inf by rightclicking it and then I copy whole Ximage folder content to System32 folder.
that's all it woks fine for all commands.
Only thing is even u mount it rw u cannot delete anything but only can overwrite its contents or add somethig to it.
Its clearly RW (read write )not RWD(read write Delete).
let microsoft be gifted with tomatoes on their faces for such foolishness.

OMGWTFBBQ! After 7 month I finally got the Ximage tool to work! o_O Now I can figure out exactly what I need to do when preparing VistaPE. I see the annoyance that you mean by no deletions though. Perhaps there's a good reason behind it.

i have explorer and Iexplore working, as well as over half the control panel snap-ins..
He`s what i did, copy the software(registry) file from the install.wim to your mounted/applied location. overwrite the current registry file.
now open up the software Hive with regeditor or similair problem, change all "c:\program files" to "X:\program files" and "d:\windows" to "x:\Windows"
than unload the hive, run the ximage command to capture the wim image. than create the iso/cd.
The whole Winpe 2.0 is controlled thought the Registry.
P.s i`m using 5308
