I just got WUPG98 and I must say it is a very nice package! I definitely give it :thumbup for being able to manually install/not install certain things with WinRAR, it's just a nice feature to have. Keep up the good work, I love updates like this

Sorry to say, but MM1 doesn't install right...I know some MS-DOS batch programing, so I opened up install.bat and saw the problem: the MM1 directory needs to be created on the user's hard drive before you copy the program!!! I got MM1 eventually...needed to copy the MM1 install directory to my hard drive manually. Hope this helps for the next relese of WUPG98! :thumbup

I already have Kernel EX 3.6 installed, along with the latest accumulated security update and root. If I'm going to install WUPG98, should I uninstall Kernel Ex first and the other updates? Or can I just install this over Kernel and the other updates?

KernelEx can be installed seperate after the Setup, it is in C:\wupg\KernelEx036
But it would be better first to uninstall it, then install WUPG, and then reinstall KernelEx from the folder (so that the functions are available in the newest version). EASIEST is: FIRST WUPG98 gets installed (Kernel32.dll is 4.10.2224, so if your's is lower, the file gets replaced and KernelEx functions must be readded), then afterward KernelEx ( so the new Kernel32 gets the KernelEX functions).
And thats it.

There is no other thing, to check before unistalling.
KernelEx should anyway be installed after any unofficial SP, Upgrade Pack etc which updates the Kernel32.dll file, as last!

So you would need to unistall it first, befor you install the WUPG98, if you want to use the KernelEX functions afterwards still.

Thanks MDGx !

Btw I added KB2378111 now in the pack (made a minor change) however its was available for Windows XP SP3 with Media Player 9 so I integrated it in the pack
and it replaced former WMP 9 Updates (including the Media Player 9 kernel file wmp.dll file) and its very new from 2010 and works I did a test running WMP9 now for over 2hours and 30 minutes with no crash ,so its 100% ok!
I re-uploaded the upgrade pack files today so maybe when you find time add them too ,thanks!
Further DirectX updates(after the 98 support ended) wont work, I checked that already.
And btw, I didnt add new IE6 updates as its a better way to install Firefox via Xeno86´s KernelEx .
So keep updated guys ;).

Awsome stuff. 8)
I'm going to check its content against that of uSP3 and perhaps make a webpage similar to theW98SE Post uSP3 Updates with WUPG98.

Question:
Is the installation customizable or does it install everything at once without asking?

Is this awesome stuff compatible with Win98 Unofficial SP 4 beta?
If yes, which installs first?

@Fredledingue , prowler

It's an install all, for the reason that newbee users might not have the experience to know what they need or not need.

You may install the pack(as it contains not updates only) without the updates I believe, this option is available by a command prompt input request during start of the installation.

However you are NOT ABLE to choose 20 out of 1Mio updates or 500.000 of 1 Mio, you must install all updates or none.

Mixes of different packs are not recommend.

If you have no pack installed you should install the whole upgrade pack.

There is an option to install by "non update installation" this is only good if you have many of the updates installed already,as you may have an older version of Upgrade Pack 98 installed.
This is good when you know how many new updates have to be installed, then you can install them afterwards manually.

Hope it helps you people.

Sorry if this may be a silly question, but what is the relationship between this package and the unofficial service packs (such as SESP30B4.EXE)?

Joe.
