i have an ESS Allegro es1989s sound card. it plays sound, but i have a problem. in the volume panel the master volume slider stays all the way down. i can move it to the top, but then it just goes back down by its self. any ideas? im thinking its a driver issue of some kind, but i cant find any place to find drivers other then driverguide (and this is the only one they have for it)

any ideas?

Is that integrated sound? If it is, try getting a cheap PCI-based sound card.

Why not try the drivers from the manufacterers site here.

You should only get drivers from places like driverguide if yo can not find them one the manufacterers site.

Also if it is a driver problem you should not blame it on the os.
