Hello everyone :hello:

I have disassembled my router and found a pcmcia wireless network card in it. I tested it on Windows XP and I could use it. Then I used it on a windows 98 notebook but it needed a driver.

I searched on Google but I didnt find it. I asked the manufacturer for the driver but he didnt answer me.

The Card is a WL-616 Card by GEMTEK.

Here is the Manual: http://www.gemtek.com.tw/web_driver/specs/...16Spec_V1.0.pdf

Maybe someone of you has a dompatible driver for it :)

It might be a dumb idea but perhaps try a driver for one of their similar models.

Closest they have is a WL613 (yours is a 616) but it just might work. Try forcing the drivers onto it through manually selecting them instead if the auto-query for the 'best' and 'proper' drivers shows no results.

idk if this is still an issue, but i had the same router and found a pcmcia card in it. i did what chozo said to do, and it worked fine. did drop some packets once in a while, but nothing major.

kinda wierd how they had a normal lan router and put a pc card in it to make it a wifi router.

Do you have the drivers for the router, might open them up and find it inside. What is the Router model number? Look on the pcmcia card for a FCC ID #. Sometimes these cards are repackage and sold under there name.

If you have the divers for the router.

You might shut down, plug the modem in,boot up and when windows finds new hardware point to the folder you have the drivers in. If that will not work check the drivers if it has a EXE file to install the modem
