hi all,
does anyone here have experience with migration of exchange 2003 over to another server also running exchange 2003?
can anyone tell me if they would use exmerge or just export all mailboxes to .pst files?
many thanks

Are they on the same, or different, domains?
If different domains, definitely exmerge (there are also some 3rd party apps that can move rules, alerts, etc, which exmerge does not).

can anyone answer this question for me please to put my mind at rest...
im doing this on a virtual pc, and thinking about when i come to do the real thing and its critical i have a good backup before i do the real move. if i backup the whole c:\program files\exchsrvr directory will this be enough to restore from should it all go wrong?
thanks

Have you considered running ntbackup to backup the exchange store and public folders databases?
Just having the exchsrv folder structure will do you no good, ultimately.
