how does one include the latest windows installer hotfix incorporated into a windows XP distribution on a network share where we run unattended installs, etc. We keep getting 3.0 installed not 3.1; as a result defender will not install unless we get the right msiexec installed. We need to update the i386 folder or hotfix folder to include the latest windows installer. thanks.

Dl the Win Installer 3.1v2 here and integrate it as a hotfix in nLite. Or /Integrate:%windowscd% switch, but that's slower cos both patched and original files are on the cd, and Windows Setup chooses the appropriate one.

just download it from microsoft and use this swithes with the exe you downloaded: /Q /O /Z
