hi everyone

i have just installed vista beta 2 build 5384 and i have a network problem

i currently have two computer on my network. this one that runs vista and another computer that runs xp
i have managed to set up a network and both computers see each other.
However, before i installed vista i shared a external hardrive that was connected to this computer.
But now after enabling share on the external in vista the other computer see the hardrive and can open things but it cant change anything. I cant even add a new folder on the external hard from my xp computer
any thought. so basically since the external drive is attached to the vista machine how can i change the settings so that network users can do whatever they want to do on the drive.

thanks in advance

...was referring to the Vista box.

Also try this on the Vista box:

There are two different types of permissions to check: network and NTFS. Even if a file is shared to EVERYONE, NTFS permissions can trump that.

Network: Right-click on the folder/file, go to sharing, and check the permissions in that window

NTFS: Right-click on the folder/file, go to security, and check the permissions

Either page can trump the other. ROT: the more strict rule wins.
