What version of windows are you running?
I searched for this file on my Win98 rig at work, and all it found was a script word pad file, no exe....

You've got Windows 98? I think you can edit the system file "win.ini" with notepad and just erase whatever line has "script.exe". It could also be that one of the programs that starts up with your computer is looking for script.exe.

Run MSCONFIG and uncheck all startup apps. This way you can eliminate those as possibly causing this.

Well if you want to delete it, try restarting in safe mode.
Though im not sure deleting it will fix the problem.

If Norton AV says its a trojan, it should be in the quarantine? If not, CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task on script.exe

open REGEDIT.EXE
go on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

then check successively all keys starting with Run :

Run
RunOnce
[...]

until you find the **** key containing 'script.exe'

Delete it, and restart your computer.

BEWARE!! Wrong manipulations in REGEDIT might render your PC unaccessible.

Back it up by typing scanreg /backup then do it. If you get it wrecked, Boot to a dos prompt and type scanreg /restore and select the most recent backup
