so i want to insatll ipx, now i know there are alot of posts on this

but my problem is that when i try to install anything thru network connections, it give me the error
"could not add the requested component. the error is: operation not allowed in wow64"

this happens when i try to install a client, service, or protocol

so does anyone know a manual way to install ipx? or is there an installer program i need but that is missing?

No. You have a too nice computer. *jealous*

Basically you just have to find netnwlnk.inf, right-click on it and select "install". Also make sure you have the needed files on your computer (see my sig for details).

And if this does not work, you may have to do manually what the inf does on its own (a few entries in the registry).

Ok, a lot of entries in the reg. :D

I'm not an inf expert.
In fact, if I had this problem, I would use filemon and/or regmon to find which file is responsible for the error.

actually. it didnt turn out to be a windows problem at all, or nlite. it happened to be litestep. i really have to figure this out, ive googled and havnt found anything at all. whenever i set litestep as the defualy shell, a bunch of files just magically get deleted. all the stuff from the control panel is gone. so i have to copy files from another computer.

How do you make litestep your default shell ?
Do you do it yourself with the registry or do you use a tool ?
