Hello: I'm going to just jump in here. I just installed MS Office 2003 and my printer has quit working. When I click print then on find printer on the print page the find printers dialog opens then a dialog that says [/b]Directory Service is currently unavailable.
Anybody got a clue about this?
Thanks
R'Lee

if you are trying to access network printer from word - print - find printer option then i would suggest you to install the printer first from
Start - Settings - Printers and Faxes - Add Printer, and adding the printer there, rather than
using the Find Printers option when trying to print from Word.

As realgujju said... install the printer as a network based IP or hostname printer and forgo the directory service issues. Also try Googlin' the error, there is tons of info out there about this issue.

I already did what "realgujju" recomended and did not work... in fact I did it a few times, uninstalling and reinstalling... What amaze me is that the computer "sees" the printer and install it without any problem... In regard to information in Internet, I couln not find any that relates the problem with the Directory Service and the printing function...

Can you ping the printer? Can you get to the printer's online interface? has the hostname been configured on the network? Do you have the right driver?

I do not know how to "ping" the printer, but I can test the printer sending a "test page" without any problem...

Im confused. If you can print a test page then you can print to your printer...
