I have an external USB drive that I connect on my XP workstation (SBS2003 server). I have a shared folder on the drive. Sometimes when I disconnect/reconnect, the share is lost and I have to set it up again.
Does anyone have any ideas why this may be? The intermittant nature of the loss concerns me-should I be relying on this for a data backup?
TIA
Kirby

Share are stored in the registry and recreated when server service start. If you drive doesn't always have the drive letter, it would explain why the share disapear. Also each time you hotplug you harddrive you should restart server service, if not the share won't appear.
