please help windows vista 64 bit installation Rate Topic: -----

hi, i'm trying to install the 64bit version of vista on my machine(a different one), i have a blank harddrive and everything, but after everything loads and after the country, language and keyboad config screen, i get a missing driver screen. it says something about a missing CD/DVD device driver and asks me to inster some sorta driver to it. i am currently stuck at this point, could someone please help.

here are the cpu and mobo i have
amd athlon 64 3800+ x2
asus a8v deluxe

again your help is very appreciated

for the install trying unplugging your secondary Cd drive (if you have one) if not could you be more specific about the error or get a screen shot?

well, i got past that part, now i am stuck after it finds my harddrive and it says something about an error here is an screen shot:

please keep in mind that i'm trying to install the 64bit version.

is it a SATA drive or a IDE drive?

it is an IDE drive, i have all my other IDE and SATA drives unplugged, and only one LG dvd-rw drive plugged in. could it be how i formatted the drive? i formatted it using maxblast...

i am betting that is the case, use the built in tools in the install and reformat it.

thnx fiz, but i got vista installed :D, turned out to me the jumper setting on my dvd burner, lol, cuz i had 2 drives and when i unplugged the other i 4got to change the jumpers. vista is picky :P thnx for your help!
