just a quick question. is it a good idea to buy a video card that has already been overclocked by the maker. If it has already been overclocked can it be overclocked further yourself? what are your thoughts on this. 2nd question

when looking at video card specs it says

core clock ---- (gives a number) then it says (standard clock)
memory clock ---(gives a number) then it says (standard clock)

it gives a number for the standard clock. so if it has a high core clock but a much lower standard clock is that a card to stay away from?

EDIT* is the standard what the clock is before it has been overclocked?

I would only by EVGA overclocked cards as their warrenty covers it and also covers end-user overclocks to already overclocked card.

evga is the best as i always say. the early versions of the overclocked 7900gt's from all manufacturers were somewhat bugged and evga has fixed that problem allowing ppl to send in their "old" 7900gt's for the new/fixed ones. so what video card are you looking at? most of the time there is no problem when buying overclocked video cards.

Definately recommend it. Bought the very same with lifetime warranty. With that kind of warranty, who cares if it's O/C'd?
