Hi,

Im having a nightmare time getting some new Dell Precision 490s working with RIS.

Ive got a RISETUP Windows XP Pro SP2 image with the required textmode drivers that works fine. I installed it onto one of the machines, then installed a couple of required applications and RIPREP'd it.

I then went to install this new RIPREP image onto another machine and it failed after the PXE boot, saying the machine had no partitions available.

This is obviously because it needs the TEXTMODE driver, but I would of expected it to have been included as it was part of the RISETUP image?

I've tried to get it working with the second RIPREP image but it just refuses to see the SATA drives. I've tried added the OEM & TEXTMODE drivers to the new image, and played around with the riprep.sif endlessly but am having no joy.

Am I missing something obvious, or going about this in the wrong way?

Cheers
Paul

Same problem for me too.
SATA drivers installed in de base image of the RIS server.
IBM Lenovo T60 installed by RIS, just plain Windows, OK

IBM configured as how we want it.
IBM Lenovo T60 riprepped to the Ris server.

Then Ris the Riprep image back to the T60, STOP: 0x0000007B (blabla) inaccessible_Boot_device
Edited the SIF of the Riprep image to find the SATA drivers, same as the base image, still the same...

Dropped the drivers in the I386 directory

That's where your problem started :). Is there any reason you are using riprep? Most people who have RIS experience will tell you to stay away from riprep like the plague, and automate a risetup image instead. Unless you absolutely NEED to use riprep, I would strongly recommend against it. Otherwise you're going to need to do some hacking of Windows files to get those SATA drivers to work, if they'll even work at all.

Ran into the same issue using riprep and was able to resolve the issue by following the instructions on the Unattended install Tutorial or whatever its called, specifically the information on this page: http://unattended.ms...xp/view/web/36/ The last step requiring you to compress the iastor.sys is very important.
