It looks like the start menu logo is missing:

However, this is what the top of the logo looks like anyway so I am not
sure its still displaying it and only the top of it - normally the start menu is twice
as high as this.

What I want to do really is make it set to "Show small icons in Start Menu"
but I have tried the Windows XP reg tweak and it is not the same on Windows
2000.

That would give a miles better look and also cut the problem of the black space out too...

The reg tweak is driving me nuts for this, it will most probably be two hex
numbers like it is in XP but where are those hex numbers?!

The XP tweak for small icons in start menu is like this:

Quote

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects2]"Settings"=hex:28,00,00,00,ff,ff,ff,ff,06,00,00,00,03,00,00,00,3c,00,00,00,1e,\
00,00,00,fe,ff,ff,ff,e4,02,00,00,02,04,00,00,02,03,00,00

However this is not the case on Windows 2000 :(

Help!

OR

Can anyone tell me what image file shows that start menu logo so
I can keep the DLL it is a part of? HINT: Its not a GIF image, its
not a BMP image, or JPG or any image format so I guess its inside
a DLL file, which DLL file though?

HELP HELP!

No it won't be... the only related thing I have removed in nLite was
"Images and Backgrounds".

I would rather get the start menu to be set on small icons to be honest,
people spent weeks, months even, finding that hex change in XP, I don't
think the answer even exists for Windows 2000 :}

We get this every now and then.

This is not a a bug, it's normal windows flaw when you remove icons from the start menu.

Add some icons to the top or reenable few and it will come back.

I repeat, not a bug.

Like nuhi said, this isn't a bug. If you remove enough icons from the Start Menu that it is no longer at least the minimum length of the Windows logo image, then it won't be displayed. This has been happening since 98se I know, on every version. If you care about the logo, just gotta add more icons in.
