I want to be able to attach a word document to a page so that should the user want to they can download the word document (also have a PDF file)

Copy the file from windows explorer into your FP folder. I would put it in a Downloads folder under the root or something. Then, on the page from which you want people to download, you can type something like "Click here to download the doc" and then select that text and Insert-->Hyperlink and choose the doc...
