Hello people!

An XMPlay update (.6) is now available for download. It includes a playlist file (PLS/etc) related security fix. So, although pretty unlikely to be exploited, it's a good idea to upgrade. As well as that, there are a few new features, including per-extension saved settings and CD support for restricted/limited Win2k/XP users.

An updated MIDI plugin has also been released, with support for the MUS format (DOOM/etc music), 0 length notes, partial-matching soundfonts, and the ability to wait for the ending notes to decay. The WavPack plugin has been updated too, to the latest WavPack 4.40 code.

Like the XMPlay MIDI plugin, BASSMIDI has also been updated with support for 0 length notes, as well as a couple of bug fixes. BASSCD was updated recently too, adding drive letter support when using ASPI on NT-based systems.

And finally... the BASSASIO beta has been updated, adding volume/balance control and the ability to mirror channels. It must be getting close to "final" now!

XMPlay is 255kb, completely portable, uses about 3mb of ram while playing mp3's - at least for me, and I believe it supports more audio formats than winamp. It also supports most or all winamp plugins. I also found this topic in the winamp forums, its a bit old but its still fairly accurate imo:

Winamp vs Everything
