EDITTED by Shark007 - to give notice, there is no need to post the same information twice, i deleted your other post.

also, your edits may have gotten better 'attention' if you had discuss it with me 1st and hopefully I would have agreed to use them in my releases. I do not have the time to install/compare whatever it is you changed.
If it is cosmetic only, I would not have used them anyway.

Filling out forms doesn't work with this Lite version. It's missing AcroForm.api from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins

Could you please release a version that includes AcroForm.api otherwise we cannot work with fillable PDFs.

thanks for the excellent work!

Update: you can try it on this test pdf file:

I've always used /sAll as the silent switch for Adobe Reader (v8 and earlier). Now I'm trying to use ar9lite_eng.exe and /sAll doesn't work. It comes up with the msiexec.exe help window. Is there a new silent install switch? I see that the installer is, in fact, unattended. But I was just wondering if it was possible to make it invisible.

Thanks for your great work, Shark. It's much appreciated!

This has previously been brought to my attention. the plugin AcroForm.api does not control this.
I have not had time to look into it. pending . . .

ar9lite_eng.exe /qn

but you will still see the files being extracted from the 7zip installer
if completely invisible is your goal it will have to be repackaged using a different 7z module.

It sure does. I copied AcroForm.api from a full install of v9 to the lite install folder and fillable forms now work.

thanks for testing this, and providing the information.
The user whom initially brought form filling to my attention also tested that api and stated it didnt work.

bottom line ....

if adding that api corrects the issue as you state, I will re-release all 9.0 versions with the fix intact.
I have not had time to test any of this . . . pending

One more suggestion: rather than deleting the plugins completely, move them to the Optional folder (peer with plug_ins). Yes, the installer will be bigger, but at least the plugins are there for users that need some of them, they can just be moved back into plug_ins, as needed. Or release an Optional.7z file with just the extra plugins. It's a pain to install the full v9 somewhere else just to copy 1-2 plugins that a user may need.

This is why it is an Lite version. If you need additional plugins, install the original full version. And if you just want these 1 or 2 files, make an sfx archive to extract them in your UA-DVD.

Hi Shark,

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 (not the reader) installed, and don't like it as a PDF viewer. I wonder if your lite version (specifically 9.0) could coexist with it, and don't mess things up if it's uninstalled someday?

Thanks for your great work!

yes you can install it AFTER the Pro installation to have it handle reading PDF documents.
The installer is still Adobe's, I only modified it to reduce the unwanted bloat it installa.

any idea what can cause this error:
http://german-nlite.....php?f=10&t=194

Little translation:
"While trying to read from the file '...\AcroRead.msi' a network error occured"

The error is caused by having previously installed the FULL version.

Please keep in mind the purpose of these installers. UNATTENDED MEDIA. They are not designed for desktop use.
They are not designed to deal with previous installations (even though it was uninstalled)
The error only occurs if you had previously installed the full version.

If you wish to avoid the error, you could try repackaging and renaming the contained msi from ar.msi to AcroRead.msi but this is not tested.

You can also try to delete all registry entries / program folders associated with acrobat prior to installing the lite version. This will certainly work.

Hi Shark,

I have a small suggestion. Would you consider removing the registration (and unregistration, of course) of AcroRd32Info.exe in future releases? The 9.0 version leaves a lot of DCOM errors in my event viewer. Yes they are safe, but still unpleasant to the eyes.

Thanks again for your nice work!

PS. I deleted the registration info under HKCR and HKLM (with backup), and no errors are issued now.
