It really depends on your fav color, I like grey/silver/blue those types of colors, so I stick with themes that support that.

Others like themes with some connections to movies..I think Ls_Dragons has a thing for Lord of the rings, thus he has installed that theme ....

Do you have stylexp beta 4.2 plus installed? the one that comes with the community themes?

I am a HUGE skinning/theme fan. My desktop changes about every other day. Here are a few of those that I have judged worthy to be displayed on one or more of my systems (in order of rating - best first). All are on either themexp.org or neowin.net.

yes
i haf it installed already
but i don't see many good themes
all the aqua ones- are not as good as the ones that windowblinds had..
the most creative (and still buggy and a bit plain) i haf seen so far is ChaNinja . However, this one, IF i use the task thing in the powertoy, it doesn't work (though i don't use it..cuz its a waste of memory)

i went through over half of the visual styles on themexp.org
and still can't really find one that i like

in windowblinds, (when i was in winme)
i like maxwb, nascent, glass, etc....
not too fancy looking, but some pretty nice design....

I was never a big fan of WB. The problem was that I fooled around with 2.0 and it was so slow I just never went back to it again. But now with the latest version it is pretty amazing.

Ls_Dragons:
I liked plastictube but hated that orange color, I really liked the blue version i saw on neowin.net , never got a chance to get me a copy of that.

FYI, Binary one of the top theme authors is working on a macos skin, I'll tell you about it when he finishes... it looks pretty similar to all the other ones out there.. but I bet it will be less buggy.

How does it crash your system? I found a bug in the program, but I'm having some difficulty figuring out why that happens...
(to validate my point, I need to know how to be able to replicate it)

The bugs only occured on my brothers' computers and they have the latest beta installed...it happens randomly!
Jsut for the heck of it ..check it out... (he uses the watercolor theme)

The list just keeps growing, but I've found I lean more towards the clean looking themes with creativity and as few bugs as possible!
I also like the themes that I can sort of get matching winamp controls, winamp skin and wallpaper

I don't use login screen as I don't have one, and boot screen(don't restart my computer that often)

Give it time, I'm sure poeple will come up with even more amazing themes, XP just came out a few months ago, so did StyleXP ;-)

Rhodium Edge has been the only theme I've used the most, so its my favourite. The GlassXP theme ain't so bad, and there are some others.. which I can't remember (can't be bothered to switch on my WinXP machine's monitor on lol)

lord of the rings theme is also good
if u like LOR
too bad they dont' include a background to the theme
on themexp, they said beta 2 is out
but in the downloaded file, its still beta 1

where do i get the winamp control?
why do i hafta "match"? doesn't xp's skin automatically skin taskball and all the toolbars?
ms' one plays mp3 too right?

one more question
how do ppl group their icons in the quick launch bar?..i mean putting a separator between different groups. Is the only way to create a new toolbar for each?

Disable Powertoy components:
Goto Control Panel::>add remove programs:::> select MS Powertoys::> click change:::> select modify and then pick!

I don't know what you are asking me for quick launch?
Add programs to quicklaunch: Drag and drop the program shortcut
Add new toolbar but not on taskbar: Check the screenshot and tell me if this is what you are talking about?

"matching" winamp controls is just having the icons match the theme installed.
The default winamp controls come with the luna looking ones

The MS audioplayer plays anything, it even has a playlist and a volume icon for quick access. (the icons in the top toolbar of my brother's desktop screenshot are the newly installed audio player from the ms powertoys)

To add new stuff, first of all:
unlock taskbar (right click on it and uncheck locktaskbar)
then goto toolbars :::>new::> add the folder you have your shortcuts etc..

Someone here mentioned to group all your software shortcuts in one folder and then add a new toolbar to it on the taskbar for quick access to all your files.

i dont' exactly mean that. i mean like i wanna put some separators in the quick launch bar to group them. you know like in internet explorer, u get those separators to group stuff?...i wanna do the same in quick launch
instead of a bunch of icons,( I haf a lot of icons in quick launch, cuz i open most progz that i used from there...quicker access), i want some separators to group them
i saw screenshots of ppl's quick launch bar like that, and i m wondering if they create new toolbars for each group
ex. creating a toolbar for internet stuff, one for multimedia...etc...
i don't wanna do that

how come i haf a weird title name for the audio player toolbar? (what the is that?)
and i don't haf all the icons u haf
(what the?..where is the upload in this forum?..just a tiny image that i wanna upload!)
anywayz....the title is"zaxxon" and not audio player, as shown in ur screen capture, what is thaT?
and i only haf 4 icons , no playlist icon ...etc...

I understand how you feel Hermit, I hate not being able to attach.

Here goes:
Audio player, is what I've been telling you all along about the MS powertoys.

When you Add it make sure to do the following, so it looks like mine.
01. Right click taskbar::>toolbars::> audioplayer
02. then make sure to have "unlock taskbar"
03. uncheck show title/text
04. Click no the icon that has and upward icon (it opens a play list)
05. Select Options, click on (add volume button)
06. Check my screenshot (sorry I just changed my theme.. hope that doesn't confuse you)

07. Zaxxon is just a stupid title if you want to change it goto (upward.. eject looking button...click options..change title)

You can group them like this?
