Is there a firefox extension that can put the add-on window (themes & extensions) into a tab? Something similar to what Download Manager Tweak can do with the download manager (can choose between sidebar/tab/window).

Try All-in-One Sidebar and see if it does what you want.

I almost deleted this after I posted it, because I didn't read you carefully enough, but then I saw where one of its features is "PanelTab Button - open any sidebar content in a new tab or in a window and open any tab content in the sidebar " so maybe you can use it.

it seems to not like the way my toolbars are arranged and/or my other extensions, so it completely hid everything. :\

in the options, go to Manager Hacks - Behaviour

then set 'Select window target' to 'new tab'

should be good to go
