I have a HP ProLiant ML150 G2 Server.
This was working fine until one day I realized that the screen was black.
I try to boot the server, but the screen is black. I cannot get into the bios.

Anybody that can help me ???

Kenneth

Does it boot at all? Any fans spinning? Can you hear the POST beep? Have you tried with a different monitor?

When I boot the server, the fans is spinning. I get a light on the CD-rom, but not on the FDD. After a couple of seconds the light goes off from the CDrom, and - nothing! Everything seems right on the server. "Powerlight" is on.
Screen is black - no signal.
I switched the graphic card, but that didn't help.
Disconnected cd CDrom and fdd from the system board, no help.
The server is connected to a switch. The lamp on the port turn green - so does the ethernet port on the server.

:) I see noone has replied about your problem yet, so...
I had an MSI K7NG2-L motherboard in a computer that ran ok for 9 months and it seemed to have done the same thing as your computer did. I sold the motherboard and later I asked the guy I sold it to if he got it to work, and he said he did get it to work.
So hang in there, I think you can get your computer to work again...somehow.

Can you hear the POST beep? Chances are that your BIOS might have got corrupt. Clear it and see if it works.

You don't hear any BEEEEEPs from your board and ALL light indicators are working which means that your "tower" is working.
Inserting an other vga card did't help...

Well, unfortunately, this means one thing, YOU'VE BURNT YOUR MONITOR!

No beeps = no POST. Clear the BIOS and see if it starts up. To clear the CMOS (BIOS) refer to the motherboard manual. If you haven't got one then unplug your pc from the mains, remove the battery located on the motherboard, wait ~10 seconds then plug it back in. Power up the pc and come back with your findings. Cheers.

I removed the battry for awhile just like you said. But no beeps...
Got one little change - when I connect the power cord now, it starts automaticly. Before I had to press the button.

What could I do now?

I had this happen to me a while back and finally traced the problem to the CPU. Try removing it and cleaning out any dirt and replacing it. If not change the CPU for another one and you will find the PC will boot.

I'd start off by checking the PSU, then the motherboard. Can you see any damaged capacitors on the motherboard (odd shaped ones)? Change the PSu first and reboot.

I tryed something here...
I stripped down the server - and then I got beeps! 1-3-3-1. Means troubleshoot the system memory or troubleshoot the motherboard.
How can I do that? Does that mean that I should replace the motherboard?

Replace the RAM and try again. If you still hear more than a short beep then your motherboard is dead.

Replaced the RAM.
The beeps disappeared, but nothing more.
Then it looks like I need a new motherboard?

Try a different power supply that you know it's working. If this doesn't work either, then I'm afraid you need another motherboard.

Seems the only thing left is to try a different PSU and a different CPU.
(off course keep the server stripped, i.e. no hdd, fdd, cdrom, extra controllers etc.)

If one of these two options doesn't work, the motherboard is probably dead..

Hi again,
...is it post #5 that suggested a corrupted Bios?
I think the reason my motherboard wouldn't boot was probably because the Bios was corrupted. A corrupted Bios may suggest the memory failure report seeing that Bios is saved in a chip on the motherboard. I have flashed a bios that did not complete so the bios update failed, and then, not because I knew what I was doing but because I just had a go I reflashed the Bios and it updated correctly. So you see, having incomplete bos information in the otherboard Bios chip didn't matter to the flashing program.
For that reason, I suggest that the Bios is reflashible . The Bios is probably corrupted and flashing several times, and possibly but not necesarily with an alternative flashing program, like Uniflash, just might overide and replace a corrupted Bios. I am guessing, but if my motherboard failed on me again I would like to try this before I sold the motherboard.......again.

BTW I was a little busy yesterday, but this is not the correct subforum to post in. This is the software forum, moved to hardware.
