pmol100
I have setup WDS and install an unattended installation of Vista but the computer account names are randomly generated and it doesn't seem to use the settings configured on the WDS server (just like RIS). Tried it in the XML file, but also no luck.Did anyone manage to install Vista unatteneded and created computer names like PC0001, PC0002, etc.
eschloss
look at c:\windows\panther\UnattendGC\Setuperr.log and c:\windows\panther\UnattendGC\Setupact.log to see why the settings aren't being processed.
pmol100
I want to generate computernames where the number increases automatically like PC1, PC2, etc. I would expect the settings within WDS (which are onc the "Remote Install" tab on the computer account of the RIS/WDS server) should work fine. the variables which I include in the computer account generation doesn't seem to work anymore with Vista, the syntax is : pc%4# this should generate accounts from pc1 to pc9999 but doesn't work at all.Are the settings on the Computer object also working for Vista or is it just for backwards compatibility ?When I add the computer account settings (pc%4#) in the XML file (by WSIM) I get the error below:[shell Unattend] Computername: failed to set the computer name [gle=0x0000057]When I leave the Computer Account setting empty in the XML file the image process works fine but I get a randomly generated computer name such as HL-.... which I don't want.Has anyone got this working ?
