Just got the P5B Deluxe, wanna setup a mirror set.
I have a drive with data + identical blank drive.

What do I do? the ich8r raid bios invites me to create a volume and lose all my data.
I thot there was a way to NOT lose data on the main drive with data

Anyway, my PC needs reinstall, how should I setup nLite?
Do I RAID then nLite, or is there a way to nLite 1st, then setup a mirror set after windows is up?

I'm not familiar with the mirroring, I do only stripping, but I believe that in any RAID it has to wipe the hard drive so that the new file system tables, or whatever, are setup properly. You will be able to adjust another blank drive once your original drive is RAID 1, but now none of your drives is RAID so I'm affraid you'll have to lose all the data.

I have ICH8r as well, just download the Intel Matrix Storage application, run the setup, don't push next but go in your temporary folder and find the subfolder with the Driver and Driver64 folders in it, they are your needed txtmode drivers, copy them for later and integrate those with nlite and select all ICH8 on the list once prompted.
Also integrate the chipset driver, called Intel INF driver. Oh, oh almost forgot...download and integrate the Jraid IDE txtmode driver, unless your DVD drive is SATA too.

Setup your CD, test it that it boots properly with the BIOS set to SATA RAID and that it sees the drive. Only then create the array, of course backup all you need.
Also I went through all that and I can say that there is a big chance something will go wrong so have another PC at hand to redo your CD or something if needed.

As you can see a lot of work but once you have all the drivers in your Windows it will be transparent, I just load my last nlite preset and reinstall, forgot that I had to do all that.

just getting the latest drivers now. Do you know why there is a folder called SP in the Intel chipset drivers folder? should I move them out into the outer folder?

also, what is the difference between integrating one driver and the whole driver folder? Because whichever way you do it u will still get the same entries in the end in nLite.

Don't know what the SP is, I just selecting it on the integrate folder list, don't move anything.

As you realized there is no difference, it's just to make it easier to integrate a lot of subfolders.
