I have an XP system that I modified as shown below with the nLite Final version 1.01. When I initially connected my Canon G2 and G3 cameras to my PC through USB the new hardware wizard popped up and I was required to install drivers. Once the drivers were installed the XP Scanner and Camera wizard started as it should. I subsequently purchased 2 additional Canon cameras; a G6 and an S3. The instructions that came with both of these cameras stated that no drivers were required for either when used with Windows XP. When I plug either of these in I sometimes get a New Hardware Wizard and sometimes not. I have tried to install Windows 2000 drivers with no luck all. A few times I have seen error that refers to hlpdev.dll. I fear I have removed something in windows that I should not have.

I have tried both of the later cameras with a full version of XP and the system does recognize both with out any additional drivers.

hi, i had a similar problem, used 1.01 too, a digital camcorder wasnt recognized. after spending this weekend with the problem 8) think i found the solution that may work for you too: dont select hardware\teletext codec for removal.

hope it helps.

i dont know if this was corrected in later versions, if not it would be nice to correct the dependencies in the next nlite version.

EDIT:
it was a jvc gr-dv4000 camcorder.

Does anyone know if there is a way to add this codec without making a new slipstream disc and then having to reinstall from scratch? I've just spent an entire week reloading software back onto my machine and would hate to have to do it again to get my camera supported? thank you in advance for any information Re this..

Wow weird, gotta review this why it happens, thx guys.

etplayer,
Try copying wstdecod.dll to system32 and register it but I can't guarantee it, could also be some driver class from wstcodec.inf.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply, I did actually try your suggestion with the DLL and manually registering it, unfortunately no dice, but thank you very much for the suggestion anyhow. Live and learn, Ill go with this install as is and make a new slip stream for the next time I reinstall :-) Thanks for the help again, much appreciated!
