Recently, MS has posted an updated version of the Root Certificates Update here:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...en/rootsupd.exe
This one has a digital signature date of January 15, 2007 and seems to work only under
Windows XP, Server 2003 and Vista.
Can anyone check to see if this new release of rootsupd.exe works under Windows NT4 and Windows 2000?
please post your results here.

NT4 and 2000 are not listed in the "Applies to" section of the KB article. But then again, neither is XP x64 (although generally what applies to 2003 x64 also applies to XP x64, but not always).

That's because they're no longer in mainstream support, and this is not a security-related update. Therefore, it's for XP and 2K3 only, not 2000 or NT4.
