intel GMA 900 driver for windows 98? anyone have one please

Recommended Posts

undertoe,

there are no intel gma900 series drivers for win98/me because intel did not make any

Intel basically dropped win98/me support in the 900 series graphics chipsets

consider using the intel 800 series graphics cards or upgrade to win2k or xp

I don't think that cahnging to i8xx would be good because I (from my personal experience) can freely say that i8xx series are POS.

I revived Windows 98 DDK so if you can (or know someone that does) develope drivers go ahead... If you are a simple user as most of us here consider suggestion to move to NT-based OS...

my sentiments exactly, marxo. Intel GMA 900 series graphics chipsets require a minimum of Win2000; see here:

not all of the i800 series graphics chips are POS, marxo. The Intel i830 to i865 chips can handle 32bit high color modes perfectly in BOTH 2D and 3D graphics. My brother's XP based laptop uses i852/i855 chips that can use 32bit color mode quite well.

I will say the i81x/82x chips are definitely POC since they have inferior color quality options and i830 to i865 chips are much better at handling more colors.

Has anyone with one of these chipsets tried installing the Win2000 drivers?

I ask because I recall that being one of the ways to get graphics cards working on Win9x when a driver was unavailable... Also:

Has anyone managed to use the Win98 DDK to any avail? I'm really hoping someone manages to get this chipset supported, as it will be used in the ASUS Eee 700\701 laptops and I'm hoping to get Win98SE installed on them for maximum usage of disk space and performance.
