I am trying to install the nVidia PureVideo software on a set of computers that have Windows XP Profession N (N is the version that ships without Windows Media Player). I do not want to install Windows Media Player on these computers. However when trying to install the software on a machine that does not have Windows Media Player it blocks the installation. I know for a fact you can use this software's filters without WMP.

Does anyone know how I can get around this? I tried looking in the setup.ini and setup.iss for an option to remove the check but there is none. I also cannot get into the 2 data .cabs, or the setup .inx and .ibt

One can get the software here if they wanna take a stab at it: http://www.nvidia.co...-223-trial.html

Any help would be appreciated.

You can get into the data cabs just fine using Universal Extractor 1.5 ^_^
Don't have much time right now so I hope that helps

I made a crappy little installer for:

NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder Platinum 30 day Trial
Version: 1.02-223
Release Date: June 28, 2006

For information visit:
http://www.nvidia.co...-223-trial.html

Notes: Simple self-extracting winrar + batch files installer, feel free to make a real installer. This is an XP or newer only installer, you'll have to fix it yourself for '98 or '95. It does add an entry into the Add/Remove Programs list for easy uninstallation. It's working perfectly for me, but I am unable to test hardware acceleration as I do not have an NVIDIA card. There are probably a few unnecessary registry keys in the installer, too.

Size: 1.64mb

Download:

Normal installer

Silent installer

This is a 30 day trial using the following demo key:

First and Last Name: NVIDIA Trial
Email Address: dvdtrial@nvidia.com
Last 4 Digits of Credit Card: 2004
Activation Key: 7152-9346-DD6E-2CB0-79A3-5F08-AC23

Feel free to edit the installer to include your own serial if you purchased it.

If I have a licensed copy, Do you guys know of the way to silently install it with the serial and registration information too? Thanks!

first install the decoder using the retail installer and input your key.
(also install WinRAR from rarsoft.com, you'll be needing it)

then using regedit or similar tool export the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EAFD99D7-54B6-4e87-8C7C-6A3C85F8997C}\Instance

now extract my installer (it's just a self-extracting WinRAR archive) to a folder.
open up install.reg with notepad and scroll down to the bottom.
swap the demo license information there with your own keys that you previously exported.

now right-click either my silent installer or regular installer, and choose "Open with WinRAR".
drag your new install.reg into the WinRAR window. that's it!

don't forget to uninstall the retail decoder before testing out your new installer.
oh, and please let me know how the installer works for you, it's been working great for me.

i'm a big fan of this decoder, it's amazing...
