I have spent some time this weekend to rewrite some of the Nero 7 Lite installer code. The new SDK will make use of the Nero ProductSetup tool to properly apply Nero 7 license information.
I have not tested latest Nero 7.10 release yet but I assume it won't take much effort to update the SDK to latest version.

The problem with Nero 7 Lite was it couldn't properly activate Nero 7 licenses. In order to use Nero 7 Lite it was necessary to have had Nero 7 on your system before, or Error 5305 would show up on start.
I have completely rewritten Nero 7 registration part of the setup. I am forced to use AutoIT to control the SetupX program, which is hard if you want the installer to be foolproof.

I doubt it if the installer you found will properly run a clean Windows installed system

The Beta SDK is actually just a preview. I will start up my website again this week to also provide binary packages. However I also would like to work on new micro builds, so I'm not sure I will build all language packs yet.

I love the micro (12 mbs)
but why the size jump from 12 to 20 mbs!!

Nero-7.7.5.1-english-micro.exe was 12mbs
Nero7960_eng_micro.exe is 20 mbs

I have succesfully build Nero 7 Lite today, not only lite but without much effort also the Micro variant. I will work on my site to get everything set up right but for inpatient people I have uploaded a test build:

Acheron - I uninstalled 7.9.6.0 Micro and then installed your release. When I double-clicked teh Nero Express shortcut I got the following:

^^ that is likely to happen because f serial validation i think. try erasing the registry entries when uninstalling it, then try again.

I get the same error as anonymous_user when I try to run Nero or CoverDesigner. I deleted everything regarding Nero in the folders and registry before. Of course, my Key is valid and the AutoIt script ran, because the key got entered.

I'm sorry but I accidently removed some Vista-specific code. I have configured VMWare again to also do some Vista testing.
Furthermore I have reverted all changes to nps.dll to avoid some warnings.
Please test again, but make sure to uninstall Nero 7 Lite first.

EDIT: Your new setup works great here. No error, everything is fine!
Could you tell me what you changed? Did you activate the OS_MajorVersion=6 and OS_MinorVersion=0 RegEntries in your .iss? I see that they are commented out in the SDK.

EDIT2: Ok, I now tested to build an german Nero 7 Lite with your SDK again, this time I added the 2 RegKeys and it works now!!!

The newest micro version is pretty good. However, it still will not
burn my DVD +RW disks in Vista. It claims it needs a DVD R/W
disk and halts. The full version of Nero has no complaint
about the same disks.

The file download at http://www5.rapidupl...&filepath=48693 is the micro version-14.8mb, no lite version. It installs without error, plus it does all, burning, erasing etc. without incident, but, this is the Micro version. Thanks very much Major and Acheron for a great release.

Nero full and my other burning proigrams can all burn to these disks. Nero micro did
erase my DVD +RWs but will not add any content. And if the disk is not empty
then it is supposed to ask if it is OK to erase the disk, not ask for a different type of disk.

I'm using Vista in VMWare as Nero full is already on the real system.

EDIT: I set up micro on an XP VM and it does burn OK. The problem seems
to be Vista-specific. It does know the disk is empty and that it is DVD +RW.
Just won't write to it in Vista.

BTW, if I check the box to create a desktop icon it creates only one icon and
that is for Nero Express.
