Hello,

Spec: Windows xp-64 SP2, Administrator logon
ipod: 5th Generation, USB
itunes: 7.2.0.34

Problem: The ipod will not sync

1) I have connected the USB to different ports
2) Itunes detects the ipod and lists the music tracks (however these are greyed out)
3) When I attempt to sync, there are no error messages or dialogs. It does say in the top window "synching ipod", but there are no other messages.
4) I have even attempted a restore and received the following error:

"The ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1418)"

reinstalled/re-enabled the USB device as well as creating a .bat file and running the following:

regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /s dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /s rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /s gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s sccbase.dll
regsvr32 /s slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 /s initpki.dll

I do know that the ipod works successfully with XP and I'm also aware that there is currently no support for XP-64.

I have also have the following devices:

Wacom Tablet
Creative Nomad 3 Jukebox (Now disabled)
Canon mp130 Printer

I have posted the above on the Apple website and they have no luck.

Am I missing something here ?

if there is no support then there is no support... do you know what support they are talking about tho? itunes or the driver?
maybe try another way of syncing to it. i know that there is a plugin/module for winamp that syncs to the ipod, there are also some other programs.
maybe you should see if those were work, thats if the problem is with itunes.

if the driver doesnt work properly then im not sure you have any choices, unless someone made a custom 64bit driver for it..

Cheers ripken204, I have tried out winamp and it works an absolute treat !!

It worked so well that I uninstalled my creative jukebox software - now I'm running both devices using the one program. Wonderful.

Many thanks

Clayton

no problem. when my creative zune arrives, i can sync to it without a program. i can just drag the files over like you would on a flash drive.
