every now and then my internet randomly stops working. When i open the network connections in control panel the LAN still says connected and all i have to do is disconnect the power from my router and modem for a few seconds, plug them back in and then wait a few minutes and it starts working again. Thats a pain in the butt, so how do i stop that?

we have ADSL router and a network at our home, from about six month we had also that adsl disconnection, we had talked to ISP and they made something called modulation for the phone line, and it was ok. but now it had returned to disconnection again.
also may be the ADSL filters or splitters are bad.
check also your cables and if they are tightend.

Hi
if you have ADSL make sure you have filters on all your phones in the house. also check how long the line is from the wall to the router (cannot be more than 10 meters or you will experience problems). Lastly phone your isp and ask them to perform a line test as you are experiencing loss of service, they should check the quality of the line for you and repair it if neccessary
hope this helps :)

I had a problem like this. Turned out my firewall was hosed and it would block ip renew requests. When ever I disabled it and let the modem renew it's dhcp lease, it would work again.
