can I have GNOME desktop (basically, its window manager) in my WinXP system?

i an word - NOPE
in 300pages (yet unwritten) documentation's view : yes but it wont be lovely...

if you want a nice looking alternative shell, true geoshell or other like it, litestep perhaps,
if you want windows aplications with a gnome filemanager use wine...
