The K-Lite Codec Pack has a couple of major advantages compared to other codec packs: * It is updated frequently. So it is always up-to-date with the newest and/or best components. * All components have been carefully selected for specific purposes. It is not just a random bunch of stuff thrown together. * It is very user-friendly and easy to use. * Works great with Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center. But also with all other DirectShow players, such as Media Player Classic, BS.Player, ZoomPlayer, and others. * The installation is fully customizable, meaning that you are able to install just those components that you really want. * The pack has many options, which allows you to tweak it to your own specific needs and preferences. * Uninstallation removes everything that was installed by the pack. Including all registry keys. All changes are properly undone. * It is extremely easy to make a fully customized unattended installation with the integrated wizard. * It does not contain any codecs or filters that are known to be bad, buggy or unstable. In fact, the installer is able to detect and disable several known troublemakers. * It tries to avoid potential conflicts with other codecs installed on your computer. The installer is able to detect and remove over 100 different codec and filter packs. * The installer is able to detect broken codecs and filters on your system, and helps you to remove them. * It is a very complete package, containing everything you need to play your movies. * The pack has options to activate thumbnail generation in Windows Explorer for several popular video file formats, which are by default not thumbnailed in Explorer. * The pack automatically configures Media Center to recognize all common audio and video file formats, so that such files show up in your media library. * This pack has a huge user base. This means that problems are found and resolved quickly. * There are different variants of the pack. From very small to large. * The pack is suitable for both novice and expert users. info. http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm Silent Install link. http://rapidshare.com/files/303625006/kLit...V5.4_silent.exe CRC32: 9f6fba58 MD5: a8389377f446ab59f45078c34e809873 SHA-1: 9294e96691ac6083547f4db14d8aaf4ef03352d9 file size. 23.7 MB Addon Sorry not guna upload the whole file any more just the file 2 make it, All that is needed is a drag & drop of the above exe, and its done. link. http://rapidshare.com/files/303625009/Addo...c_Pack_V5.4.rar CRC32: 16533114 MD5: 0029ea377b5ade3ed39569334028b578 SHA-1: d11a24b32fca9bbcdb1b601d3518503ca8291004 file size. 4.00 KB This post has been edited by jamesbebby: Nov 7 2009, 07:41 AM |

I agree that this is probably is the best codec pack out there. I install it on almost all non-corporate Windows systems I build. Keep in mind there is only ONE place to get this codec pack: Edskes DO NOT download K-Lite from other sites. Places like codecguide.com are scams, and often distribute malware/trojans in the K-Lite installer. Bogus K-Lite installers are probably the number 3 vector for virus's I've seen in the last 6 months. Using the above rapidshare links are not something I would do. |

How do we know that the link you've just provided doesn't lead to viri and malware? Any sane user would check their files anyway. At least I hope thay do. Anyway. Thanks James for a clean and silent install. |

@ Jamesbebby, thanks for the packs QUOTE Unattended Installation Creating an unattended installation (also known as a silent installation) is very easy for the K-Lite Codec Pack, K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and Real Alternative. Simply perform the following command line call: INSTALLERFILENAME -MakeUnattended This will start a wizard called "Unattended Install Maker". Follow the instructions given in that wizard. It's very quick and easy. I only say this because not every one will install all the pack but select certain codecs e.c.t to suit there system. |

James has done a good job & supported his post to give us confidence. Not every poster does this, & when they do I like to be respectful as a min courtesy. I have just installed Win 7 & as usual I am on the steep learning curve. Hope what I dwnld from RS (James link) has the right (latest Win 7) stuff, I'm sure it will have. BTW Win 7 looks like being a popular new OS so everyone needs to be a bit careful that they indicate whether their material is proven compatible, this is a help forum & we don't want unintended consequences as I'm sure all will agree. Thanks again James |
